Angie Wells
As a young woman her love of beauty and glamour led her to become a
professional model. Her natural ability to "paint a face" drew attention
from her agent who asked her to give lessons to the other models in the
new faces division of her agency. Soon Angie found herself doing makeup
for test shoots and for her friends and neighbors special occasions.
While in high school, Angie ran track and competed in the NCAA Nationals
in Los Angeles. She told her mother Elaine, this is where I want to
live. After she graduated high school she attended Philadelphia College
of Textiles and Science (now known as Philadelphia University) where she
earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. While she was
attending college she worked as a corporate trainer for Colonial Penn
Insurance Company. Shortly after graduation, she was laid off due to
company downsizing. Angie says, that was one of the best things that
could have happened because it forced me to see how I had gotten
distracted from the thing I loved doing the mostmaking people
beautiful.
Following in the footsteps of her professional barber father James,
Angie attended The John Amico School of Hair Design where she graduated
first in her class and won the annual student competition. While in
school she secured a position as an assistant at one of Philadelphia's
top salons. After she got her cosmetology license, she was promoted from
assistant to junior stylist and later, senior stylist. Her talent for
applying hair extensions helped her to become one of the city's most
sought after hair stylists.
Although she enjoyed hair styling Angie felt unfulfilled. She missed
doing makeup. So she began doing it on the side for photo test shoots
and giving lectures to various women's groups on the art of applying
beauty makeup.
In the spring of 1992 she attended a Color Me Beautiful workshop to
learn the art of color analysis and to receive her certification as an
Image Consultant. She did not become a consultant for Color Me Beautiful
because she did not want to be limited to selling only their products,
but she used her education to become an independent contractor. Very
soon Angie found herself conducting public image workshops for various
organizations including the National Football League, The Philadelphia
Women's Show and The Chicago Housing Authority to name a few.
Angie enjoyed having the opportunity to talk with and advise others
about their complete image consisting of makeup, hair and wardrobe but
her favorite subject was makeup. Makeup excited her, it stimulated her
inner being and caused her to feel a passion that she could not control.
She made a decision to move to Hollywood.
Angie knew she wanted to work in film and television and she knew the
best place to be was Los Angeles. She moved to L.A. in the mid 1990's to
attend the film and television makeup course at Westmore Academy of
Cosmetic Arts. She completed the course and within one month of
graduation she began working steadily as a makeup department head for
various films and television shows.

Angie's first love is film. She says,
Angie Wells was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a
little girl her favorite thing to do, was to dress up in her mother's
clothes, put on lipstick and false eyelashes and pretend to be the most
glamorous girl in the world.
Film gives me the opportunity to
really be creative and challenges my skills because on the big screen,
every imperfection shows. Being a perfectionist, I am proactive and try
to anticipate problems before they occur. I love to collaborate with my
peers and with the director, to fulfill his vision and help bring out
the best in my actors.
I love to immerse myself in a project. When I do, there is no yesterday
and no tomorrow. There is only now. The moment! And I bring 150% of what
I have to the project in the moment.
Angie Wells lives in Los Angeles with her husband and continues to do the work she loves in film, television and print.
